Consumer electronics is a broad area including units intended for personal or home usage such as personal navigation devices, mobile internet devices, connected white goods, digital photo frames, wireless gaming consoles and e-books. Beecham Research (2009) estimates that there will be 54 million connected object within this area by 2013. One of the main drivers from the manufacturers of this equipment is to differentiate towards competitors by providing more advanced features and services by enabling connectivity to a certain product. For example, personal navigation devices can have remote map updates, location based services and dynamic local advertising or point of interest services.
